Justice Raymond Ehrlich
Former Justice Raymond Ehrlich was the 69th Justice on the Supreme Court. He served from 1981 to 1991.
Justice Ehrlich moved to Crescent City, Florida, in 1926, and attended the public schools. He earned a B.S. degree in 1939 from the University of Florida and an LL.B. in 1942 from the University of Florida College of Law, both with high honors. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1942 and served in the United States Navy from 1942 – 1946. He began practicing civil trial litigation in Jacksonville, in 1946.
Ehrlich was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court in 1981 by Governor Bob Graham. As chief justice from 1988 to 1990, he oversaw a major renovation and expansion of the Supreme Court Building and released a major study of gender bias in the Florida legal system.
When Justice Ehrlich reached mandatory retirement age in 1991, he left the Florida Supreme Court and was appointed special legal counsel to United States Senator Bob Graham. He then joined the Holland & Knight law firm as a partner, in 1992.
