SC20-1225 Mintz Truppman, P.A., Etc. v. Cozen O’Connor, PLC, et al.

Miami-Dade County - begins about 9:10 a.m.

Mintz Truppman, P.A. (Mintz) sued Cozen O'Connor, PLC and others (Cozen) for breach of the Mediation Confidentiality and Privilege Act. Cozen filed a motion to dismiss, arguing that the trial court did not have the authority to settle the dispute. The trial court denied the motion, and Cozen appealed to the Third District Court of Appeal. The Third DCA agreed with Cozen and issued a writ of prohibition to prevent further proceedings in the trial court. Mintz asks this Court for review, arguing that the Third DCA's decision conflicts with another appellate court decision.
