SC2023-1540 Government Employees Insurance Company, et al., v. Glassco Inc., et al.

This case comes to the Florida Supreme Court as two certified questions from a federal appellate court about whether an insurance company can invoke the Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act as a reason not to pay an insurance claim for windshield repair.

SC2023-0432 William J. Mitchell v. David W. Race

Begins at 9:40 a.m.

This case addresses conflicting lower-court decisions about whether a non-resident is subject to a lawsuit in Florida alleging violation of the Florida Security of Communications Act. Here, Race secretly recorded from Ohio phone calls made to Mitchell in Florida.

SC2022-1553 Allen Ward Cox v. State of Florida

Begins at 10:30 a.m.

This case is a direct appeal from a 2022 resentencing proceeding.  Allen Ward Cox appeals his death sentence for the 1998 premeditated murder of Thomas Baker, a fellow inmate in Lake Correctional Institute.  On this direct appeal, he raises seven issues.
